Reparations in Altadena and Pasadena

Feb19 Event.jpg

There are several ways to get involved in ending white supremacy this month – right here in Altadena! For starters, if you aren't already following us on our brand new Instagram page, find us @surjaltadena!

We continue our series of Community Conversations about Racism and Police Violence, with a third event on Friday February 19th at 6pm. These events are co-organized with My Tribe Rise and DENA United, and feature the voices of local organizers, folks targeted by law enforcement, faith leaders, and community members. Come to listen, share, or both! The theme of the February 19th event is REPARATIONS IN ALTADENA AND PASADENA. We will discuss how racism shapes the wealth gap in our neighborhoods, and how gentrification, white flight from public schools, and soaring home prices are affecting BIPOC members of our community. We will also learn what reparations really are, how to support Black businesses in Altadena and Pasadena, and how to invest in the health and wealth of Black communities. Check out some video clips of our last Community Conversation here and here!
